How to Engage With Your Inactive Parents

At Parentapps, we want to help you achieve as close to 100% activation rate with your users as possible. This will not only save the school money but will also allow you to communicate and engage with users a lot more effectively. We have a dedicated Customer Service and Support team who can provide guidance and advice to ensure as many users as possible are using the app successfully.

The best way to engage your inactive users is by continuously promoting your app and highlighting the importance of receiving information about their children.

First, you need to identify who your inactive users are. Click into the Users tab on the left-hand side and filter by Inactive. Now, the only users shown are red (inactive). You can export these using the blue export button in the top right corner. This will download a CSV of the users you need to target.

We recommend that if you’re having difficulties getting users to activate with an e-mail address to re-send their invitations via SMS as this has a much higher success rate.

We also suggest that you send an e-mail or SMS to your inactive users, explaining that you have noticed they haven’t yet activated their account and you will be sending them a new invitation at a certain date and time. This will get their attention and pre-warn parents to expect a new invitation. You can do this via the messages tab. When composing a message, you have the option to send only via SMS or Email, and you are also able to choose to only send via SMS or Email to inactive users only. This is a useful way of communicating with most parents via a Push Notification, and only the Inactive users via SMS or Email. Please be aware that an SMS message is limited to 160 characters. If your message is more than this, it will use multiple SMS credits from your account. To check your credit balance or top up, visit the “Your SMS Balance” section of the dashboard.

Finally, it is important to remember that the more you use the app, the more your parents will interact and tell other parents about it. This will prompt inactive parents to download the app and register their account.

If you have any parents that are struggling to download the app or having any other issues, they can contact our support team directly either via phone, e-mail or the live chat on our website.
